SurgyScribe FAQs
What is an AI medical scribe?
An AI medical scribe listens to a doctor-patient consultation and turns it into a structured, EHR-ready clinical note automatically. SurgyScribe records either the full conversation or a doctor's dictated summary, transcribes it in real time, generates the note against a department-specific template, suggests ICD-10 / ICD-11 codes, and pushes the finished note into the EHR — so the doctor reviews and signs instead of typing.
Does SurgyScribe integrate with our EHR?
Yes. SurgyScribe pulls the day's appointments and patient demographics from the EHR and pushes the completed note back into the patient chart, so there is no duplicate data entry and no separate documentation system to reconcile. Integration is done per EHR during onboarding.
Which languages does SurgyScribe support?
SurgyScribe supports 89 languages, including English, Hindi and Arabic, and handles the mixed-language consultations that are normal in Indian and GCC OPDs. Notes are produced in clinical English regardless of the language spoken in the room.
How accurate are the notes, and who is accountable for them?
The doctor remains accountable: SurgyScribe drafts, the clinician reviews and signs. Notes follow preset department templates so each required section is captured consistently, AI surfaces key data and decisions as a summary, and any correction the doctor makes is what gets filed to the EHR.
How does SurgyScribe protect patient privacy?
Patient identifiers received from the EHR are never processed by or shared with third-party AI services. The consultation audio is sent to speech-to-text and language models on enterprise accounts configured for a zero-data-retention policy, so the audio and text are not retained for model training.
Do patients need to consent to being recorded?
Yes, and SurgyScribe provides the disclaimer to obtain it: “This consultation may be recorded and transcribed by an AI assistant for documentation purposes. By proceeding, you consent to this process.” Hospitals display or read this at the start of the consultation, satisfying consent requirements without adding a separate paperwork step.
Does SurgyScribe help with medical coding?
Yes. SurgyScribe maps the documented encounter to ICD-10 and ICD-11 codes in real time and suggests the correct code as the note is generated, which reduces miscoding and the downstream claim rejections that follow from it.
How much time does SurgyScribe save a doctor?
Documentation consumes roughly 40% of a clinician's day in the hospitals Surgy Health works with, and AI scribing is where most of that is recovered — Indian hospitals deploying AI documentation report 2–3 hours saved per clinician per day. The gain compounds: shorter note-taking time means more consultations per session and fewer notes finished after hours.
Does SurgyScribe work with any EHR?
Yes. SurgyScribe integrates with hospital EHRs, and the SurgyScribe Chrome extension (beta) lets doctors use it alongside a browser-based EHR without an integration project. Notes are reviewed by the doctor before they are saved to the record.
